Call for papers -- Asian Business and Economics Research Unit conference

'Globalisation, migration and labour mobility in India and China'.

When: 29 - 30 September
Where: Melbourne

Topics may include:

  • What is the place of China and India in what appears an emergent global labour market?
  • How are employers and workers relocating as they seek to best situate themselves and cement their places on the new global assembly line and who are the winners and losers?
  • How can the labour market within India and China be regulated at the national and local levels and what is the role of global bodies such as the ILO in this process?
  • Does immigration (emigration) spur or slow down long-run economic growth?

Deadline for papers: 1 August, 2005

There is limited free conference registration for post-graduate students who are presenting papers at the conference.
