In the past 24 years Monash University's Australian University Games (AUG) taekwondo team has won the overall points trophy a grand total of 20 times.
Monash Vice-Chancellor Ed Byrne congratulated the team at a reception last Friday.
Their performance at this year's AUG was also remarkable, as the 28-strong team took home 19 gold, 18 silver and eight bronze medals and had four fighters named in the green and gold squad, as they stormed to victory, almost quadrupling the score of their nearest rival.
Team manager Lai-Yee Chow said that more than half of the members participated in their first university games at the event in Perth and through a lot of determination and spirit, Team Monash had come out on top.
"A more experienced team will be looking to make it three years in a row next year on the Gold Coast, and as always they will take nothing for granted, working just as hard despite their dominant performance this year," Lai Yee said.
