Obesity and the Metabolic Syndrome will be the subject of a Making Connections symposium organized by Weizmann Australia and Monash University. The symposium will feature experts in this field from the Weizmann Institute, Israel, and Monash University and other Australian Universities and research institutes.
Plenary lectures will cover the epidemiology, causes (genetic, environmental and cultural), prevention and management of obesity. Symposia sessions will address the latest systems and molecular research in obesity and the metabolic syndrome, with focus on CNS control and the pathogenesis of diabetes Type II, myocardial infarction, stroke, vascular, renal and other obesity-related disorders.
