Description:

Educational programs and persuasion campaigns are common strategies used to increase knowledge and change attitudes but they often exert little influence on behaviour.

In this presentation, Professor Icek Ajzen discusses how his theory of planned behaviour—one of the world’s leading models of human behaviour—challenges certain assumptions inherent in these traditional approaches and shows how his theory can be used to inform the design of effective behaviour change interventions.

Drawing on over 40 years of research on physical activity, healthy eating, energy conservation, transportation, marketing and many other domains, Icek highlights and illustrates his model’s implications for motivating behaviour change and increasing the likelihood of its successful implementation.
