Description:

A panel of senior business people will discuss ‘Common beliefs about gender within organisations – and their veracity!’

Topics to be explored include:

  • An introduction to current problems in Australian organisations including a lack of women in middle and senior management and board positions and a large pay gap of 18% between men and women across Australia;
  • Common myths about gender issues and the problems these myths cause;
  • The reasons these myths are so widely believed; and
  • Some solutions.

A light lunch will be provided.

Facilitator

Mark is a former CEO of Kvaerner (now Jacobs) E&C Australia, a successful but extremely male-run organisation.  With a background in engineering, science and IT, he is a company director and management consultant, and a Fellow of various engineering institutions and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.  In recent years he has developed a new argument for more women in engineering based on personality types in the engineering profession and with his colleague, Ms Gunilla Burrowes, has made numerous presentations around the country on the problems encountered by women in engineering and in business.  Mark is an accredited Myers Briggs trainer.

Panel Members
