MUSO Java digital certificate expiry warning

We have been advised by the vendor the Java digital certificate used on login to MUSO will expire on Wednesday 24 January 2007.Some users will be prompted by an error message similar to the one shown below when logging into MUSO.

Java digital certificate error

The vendor has released a hot fix which we have applied to our testing environment. Our testing has revealed several issues. We have referred the issues to the vendor and are waiting for an appropriate solution. We expect to be able to apply a revised hot fix prior to the start of semester 1 2007.

The following information was provided by the vendor.

What the digital certificate expiration means for our users:

Users who have previously accessed MUSO and selected to always trust Java certificates will see no change in how they use MUSO. The affected certificate will already be stored as a trusted certificate.

Users who choose to only accept Java certificates for MUSO per session will continue to be prompted each time they access MUSO. After the certificate has expired, the message shown in the pop-up window will change to indicate that the certificate has expired.
Action - These users should click Ok or Run to continue with the expired certificate

Users who have not yet accessed MUSO, and those who removed the certificate from their list of trusted certificates for Java, will be prompted to accept the certificate. The message shown in the pop-up window will indicate that the certificate has expired.
Action - These users should click Ok or Run to continue with the expired certificate

Due to differences in Java for Windows and for Mac, some Mac users may be prompted to accept Java certificates for MUSO again after expiry. There is no change to how MUSO functions. The affected applets, such as Who's Online and Chat, will continue to work the same way as before.
