How to access and contribute Web Links in Blackboard

Quick guide for students

 The Web Links tool allows you to access links to World Wide Web pages and find resource material on the Internet.

View web links

View web links

  1. Click on Web Links  in the Course Tools menu.
  2. Click the title of the web link you want to view. The web site will open and may appear in a new browser window.

Note: If Web Links  does not appear in the in the Course Tools menu, click on the Web Links icon  on your section page.

Create a web link

  1. Click on Web Links  in the Course Tools menu.
  2. Click Create Web Link.
  3. Enter a Title and Description. The title appears as the link to the web link.
  4. Enter the Internet address for the web link in the Web Address (URL) field.
  5. Select the category in which to save the web link from the Select Category drop-down list.
  6. Click Save or Save and Create Another.
  7. You will be returned to the Web Links page.

Note: Students can only create web links if this option has been allowed by their lecturer.

Edit a web link

  1. Click on Web Links  in the Course Tools menu.
  2. Click the ActionLinks  icon next to the title of the web link you want to edit.
  3. Click Edit Properties
  4. Make any changes required.
  5. Click Save or Save and Create Another.
  6. You will be returned to the Web Links page.

Note: You can only edit web links that you have created.

Delete a web link

  1. Click on Web Links  in the Course Tools menu.
  2. Click the ActionLinks  icon next to the title of the web link you want to delete.
  3. Click Delete
  4. Confirm that you wish to delete the web link by clicking OK.
  5. You will be returned to the Web Links page.

Note: You can only delete web links that you have created. If you delete a web link, any existing links to it will also be deleted.
