How to take back and edit an Assignment submission in Blackboard
The Assignment tool allows you to take back your assignment submission if you have made an error or have not attached your assignment document before submitting.
Note: The take back option can only be used if:
- The take back option has been set in the assignment by your lecturer.
- An assignment due date has not passed (once the due date has passed you will no longer be able to take back and edit an assignment).
If Assignments are available in the Course Tools menu:
- Click on Assignments
in the Course Tools menu.
- Click the Submitted tab.
- Locate the assignment that you want to take back and click the ActionLinks
icon.
- Click Take Submission Back to Inbox.
- You will be automatically returned to the Inbox tab.
- Click the assignment title you wish to edit.
- Delete the attached file by clicking on the Remove
icon next to the file name.
- Click on Add Attachments to upload and attach your new or amended file.
- Submit your edited assignment.
If Assignments are not available in the Course Tools menu:
- Navigate to the required assignment from your unit Home Page.
- Click on the assignment that you want to take back.
- Click on the Take Submission Back to Inbox icon
.
- Delete the attached file by clicking on the Remove
icon next to the file name.
- Click on Add Attachments to upload and attach your new or amended file.
- Submit your edited assignment.
Note: Try to limit the size of your uploaded files to 1 MB or less if possible. To avoid any possible issues with uploading files to Blackboard please refrain from using any of the following characters (or spaces) in your file name:
~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) + /\ : ? < > | ; " = , -
