Firefox Video File Download Problems

Some Firefox users have experienced problems opening Windows Media Player (*.WMV) video files in Blackboard. After clicking on a link to a video file, the browser window does not load anything besides a blank screen. The problem is caused by the Firefox Windows Media Player Plugin. In order to fix this problem follow these instructions:

1. In Firefox click Tools --> Options.
2. Click the Content tab.
3. Under File Types click the Manage button.
4. Scroll down until you find the WMV file extension, click it and then click the Change Action... button at the bottom of the window.
5. Select the option Open them with the default application: and then click OK.
6. Click Close to return to your browser and attempt to view the video again by clicking on its link. Note: you may need to navigate back to the page where the link appears using the breadcrumbs or clicking the Course Content icon (small house-shaped icon) at the top-left of the Blackboard window under Course Tools.
