Blackboard Known Issues - PDF Generic Exception Error

Problem

Blackboard have identified a problem where some students using Internet Explorer (IE) get an error message similar to the one below:

At this stage there is no fix for this problem, however as this only affects Internet Explorer there is a workaround below.

Workaround

At this stage Blackboard has not identified a fix for this, however this error does not occur with Mozilla Firefox (another browser similar to IE).

We recommend that you install Mozilla Firefox if you are receiving this error. You can download this program for free from the Blackboard Browser Settings Page

Please note that once you have installed Mozilla Firefox on your computer you will need to disable pop-up's to use Blackboard. You can do this using the steps below:

Select Tools -> Options .
Select the Privacy icon on the top of the screen.
Select the Cookies tab
Tick the box next to Accept cookies from sites.
Select the Content icon on the top of the screen.
Make sure Enable Java and Enable JavaScript are checked.
Make sure Block pop-up windows is unchecked.
Click OK.
