System exception error

Symptoms

Click the Student View tab when the section visibility dates are set to be in the past will produce an unexpected system error.
“A system exception has occurred during the processing of your last request. You may attempt to return to the My Blackboard page. If further problems occur, try logging out of the system, then logging back in.”

Severity

Minor

May affect teaching staff or students and will not cause an interruption to normal business activities.

User roles affected

Lecturer, Designer viewing the Student View tab.

Resolution

The vendor is developing a solution for this and is expecting to release in the next service pack. We will advise when this is implemented for Blackboard.

Workaround

The ‘Student View’ tab can be viewed if the section visibility dates are set to be available.
This can be done by altering the dates for the section visibility in Blackboard Manager in the my monash portal.

Please consider student access to the section before altering the section visibility dates.  Setting the visibility dates to be available will grant access to the section to all enrolled students.
