MUMA Projects
As part of the Monash University O-week activities, Monash University Museum of Art invited artist, Simone Slee to develop an art project that would engage students and the on campus community. The resulting project Be a Sculpture 2007, comprised an interactive artwork where O-week carnival participants by were invited to engage with a sculptural prop and literally 'be a sculpture'. Each participant recorded their interaction with the prop, via a self-timed digital camera. Based on an artwork that Slee developed during an artists residency in Frankfurt in 2005, which was similarly titled Sculpture Star -- Be a Sculpture encouraged participants to ponder the nature of contemporary artistic practice, whilst partaking in an absurdist, performative action. Simone Slee is represented by Michael Carr Art Dealer, Sydney. See also: Photographs from Be a Sculpture 2007 (pdf. 560kb). Other MUMA projects |
