| Silvia Vélez |
An exhibition looking at the relationship between micro and macro politics, world events and individual experiences. It poses such questions as: How can artists respond to the complex social and political issues that confront society? What potential is there to resist the present conditions of globalisation?
The artists work directly engages with stereotypes, symbols, public events and media commentaries, translating and reconfiguring this data to construct new meanings. Some works reflect on community apathy, while others offer hope through individual action.
Artists: Vernon Ah Kee, Louisa Bufardeci, James Dodd, Tom Nicholson, Raquel Ormella, Fernando Pino, Silvia Velez and the artist group Damp.
