School Programs

MUMA are committed to promoting youth access to and understanding of contemporary art and warmly welcome education group visits to the Museum.

All school education talks are tailored to the Victorian Education Learning Standards (VELS) in The Arts including exploring and responding to the arts (7-10) and key learning outcomes for VCE Art and Studio Arts. Upon request talks can be tailored to primary, tertiary, community and ESL groups. School programs will engage students in discussion of ideas about:

  • Artistic inspiration and art production.
  • The wide range of media and techniques used by contemporary artists.
  • Exploring and responding to art (art analysis and interpretation).
  • Professional art practice and industry contexts.
  • Issues around the presentation and promotion of contemporary art.
  • The role of the artist and the art museum in contemporary culture.
