Volunteer Program

Monash University Museum of Art runs a vibrant and essential volunteer program.
Volunteer work can be an opportunity to gain an understanding of how a museum operates and to develop new and transferable skills, providing vital work experience in a competitive jobs market. It offers a chance to keep up-to-date with current exhibitions and events and meet visiting artists, curators and fellow students.

Volunteer activities

Volunteers work with Museum staff and are supported with appropriate training. Volunteers can work across a broad range of Museum activities including: front of house and visitor services, marketing and communications, events, exhibitions, collection and archives.

Volunteer schedule

It is useful to volunteer on a regular basis; to suit your schedule and other commitments this can be weekly or fortnightly. MUMA's volunteer program is generally divided into a morning shift starting at 9.30am and finishing at 1.30pm, and an afternoon shift starting at 1.00pm and finishing at 5.00pm. Volunteers also have the opportunity to work on exhibition installations and special events at various times. MUMA especially appreciates volunteers who are able to make an ongoing commitment of six months or a year. Volunteers are based at the Museum on the Caulfield campus.

Application

To apply, download and fill in the MUMA Volunteer Application Form (pdf or .doc) and return it to the Museum via post or email.  Please note the MUMA volunteer program is currently full. Your application will be held until a position becomes available.
