Kyla McFarlane is the Curator of Exhibitions at the Monash University Museum of Art. Recent curatorial projects include Photographer Unknown; Jess Johnson & Jordan Marani; The Ecologies Project, with Geraldine Barlow; Folded; Siri Hayes: Landscapes; Angela Brennan: Every Morning I Wake up on the Wrong Side of Capitalism, with Max Delany; and The Line Between Us: The Maternal Relation in Contemporary Photography.
As a writer, Kyla has published extensively on contemporary visual art inAustralia and New Zealand, with a particular emphasis on photography. Kyla is a member of the CCP exhibition advisory committee and editor of their online review publication, Flash. She holds a PhD in visual culture from Monash University, which focused on the relationship between contemporary photography, feminism and psychoanalysis
