Volunteer Program

Volunteer work at MUMA offers participants the chance to learn how a museum operates and to develop new and transferable skills, providing useful work experience in a professional context. Volunteers also keep up-to-date with current exhibitions and events and are able to meet and engage with visiting artists and curators. They are based at the museum on the Caulfield campus.

Appropriate training is provided for volunteers, who work with museum staff as they gain experience in a broad range of museum activities, including front-of-house and visitor services, marketing and communications, events, exhibitions, collection and archives.

Volunteer schedule

Volunteers are required to commit to a regular weekly shift for six months or a year. Morning shifts start at 9.30am and finish at 1.30pm; afternoon shifts run from 1pm to 5pm. Volunteers may also be able to work on exhibition installations and special events at various times.

Application

To apply, download and fill in the MUMA volunteer application form (pdf or .doc) and return by post or email.

Please note that the volunteer program is currently full. Applications will be held until a position becomes available.

MUMA apologises that we are unable to take high school work placement students at this time.
