Some current and recent researchGear Up: Motivators and barriers to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) wearing by youth skaters (in-line skaters and skateboarders)Drowning prevention - swimming skillsThis project identifies dramatic reductions in drowning rates in Australia above the age of 4 years, closely associated with the implementation of swimming and water safety training from the 1950's. Developing countries have drowning rates equivalent to those in Australia prior to widespread swimming training. Peer-review journal article is in preparation. Injury prevention in boxingThis project reviewed Australian and international boxing injury data and the evidence base for injury prevention, particularly head injuries, both acute and cumulative. A number of recommendations were made for interventions, monitoring of the sport and participants and for further research.
