Professor Brian Fildes

Professor Brian Fildes chairs and manages the Australian National Crash Investigation Study (ANCIS) involving over 15 national and international partners. He also manages the safety research program for the AutoCRC in Melbourne, and is the recipient of 3 major ARC-Linkage grants involving the use and validation of driving simulators.

Professor Fildes is Chief Investigator for the ARC-Linkage project on crash protection for far side occupants, a program involving car manufacturers, parts suppliers, government and other international world-leading universities.

In addition, his joint role as Chief Investigator in the ARC-Linkage Vision project with Dr Judith Charlton is a further example of a successful collaboration involving industry, government and clinical partners in which the research relies heavily on MUARC’s driving simulator.

Professor Fildes is also a patron in the European TRACE project, seeking to understand accident causation in Europe and the rest of the world.
