MUARC and the SIA have signed a Strategic Partner “Research & Development” Letter of Cooperation between the SIA and MUARC. The letter provides a basis for mutual cooperation between the two organisations as strategic partners in the promotion of health and safety through various avenues of research and development.

Major upgrade for MUARC driving simulator

The upgrade will be carried out by Australian technology company Sydac and will include significant improvements to the simulator’s technical capabilities, computer technology and driving simulation reality.
As part of the upgrade, GM Holden is donating a new Holden Commodore VE.

The Older Drivers Study, led by MUARC senior research fellow, Dr Judith Charlton, focuses on the driving behaviour of people aged 65 or older – whose numbers are set to more than double on Australian roads over the next 30 years. Younger and older drivers are needed for the study so the performance of different age groups can be compared.

With the number of drivers aged 65 and over set to more than double on Australian roads in the next 30 years, Monash University accident researchers will use one of the world's most advanced portable driving simulators -- the first of its kind in Australia -- to test older drivers.
