Director
 Erin Cassell

Ms Erin Cassell B.A. MPH is a Senior Research Fellow at Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC).  She has qualifications in sociology and public health.  Her current research interests include home, sport, and child injury prevention research, older persons falls prevention, and the evaluation of injury prevention interventions.  She is MUARC's designated support person in the area of community injury prevention/safe communities and represents MUARC on WHO Safe Communities committees and forums.

 Karen Ashby

Karen is a Research Fellow at the Monash University Accident Research Centre.  Her role with VISU involves regular contribution to the Hazard publication, management of the Victorian Emergency Minimum Dataset, and provision of data as part of the VISU information service.

Karen has qualifications in health promotion and a Masters of Public Health.  Karen has a particular interest in the prevention of dog bites and injuries associated with Do-It-Yourself maintenance activities.

Research Assistants
   Angela Clapperton

Angela has a Bachelor of Behavioral Science and a Graduate Diploma of Educational Psychology from Monash University. She joined VISU in June 2001 as a Research Assistant. Angela provides information on injury as part of the VISU request and information service, contributes to the quarterly Hazard publication and manages VAED & ABS injury datasets.  Angela has recently completed a Masters of Counselling.

Statistical Support

 Stuart Newstead

Stuart Newstead is a Senior Research Fellow at the Monash University Accident Research Centre, holds a PhD and a Master of Science (Research) in the field of mathematical statistics and is accredited by the Australian Statistical Society. He has worked as a statistician in both the medical and road safety field for a number of years now and has developed expertise in the areas of program evaluation, safety research from mass data analysis and management and analysis of injury databases. He has particular interest in the development and application of statistical methodology in safety research. Stuart has also held teaching roles in the biostatistics and medical statistics fields.

Stuart's role in VISU is to provide high-level input into database development, management and analysis as well as providing input into research directions within the system.
