DIRECTORProfessor Level E/Associate Professor Level D)Curtin-Monash Accident Research CentreThe Curtin-Monash Accident Research Centre (C-MARC) is seeking to appoint a dynamic leader to develop the research program for this exciting new Centre. C-MARC is an unincorporated collaboration between Monash University and the Curtin University of Technology. Base funding over five years has been provided from the Western Australian Road Trauma Trust Fund, managed on behalf of the Road Safety Council by the State's Office of Road Safety. The fundamental objective of C-MARC is to build injury prevention research capacity and a knowledge base within Western Australia , with a focus initially on road trauma. It will investigate the causes of road trauma in Western Australia , monitor trends and identify emerging issues, develop future road safety strategies, evaluate countermeasure programs, and engage road safety stakeholders, including road transport system designers and operators, and the broader community to create a demand for safety. The appointee will be expected to assume responsibility for the development of an internationally recognised road safety and injury prevention research program, including the development of C-MARC's research strategy in the light of developing priorities, stakeholder requirements, outcomes, etc. and delivery of Centre wide publication targets. The successful candidate will have: a postgraduate research qualification; a distinguished record of research; a record of obtaining external grants for research; proven excellence in leadership, networking and management. A track record of links with industry (or an involvement in a decision-making capacity with relevant government and community bodies) is an advantage. The appointment will be made at a level appropriate to the successful candidate's qualifications and experience. This appointment will be for a fixed term of five years.
