Student AdvisorsAs a Monash College student you are expected to seek the advice of the teachers, Learning Advisors or Field of Study Managers. You may also approach a Student Advisor for advice or referral on issues ranging from academic to emotional and cultural issues.Student Advisors are also available for couselling on Commonwealth Support Places (CSP) for current Monash College students. When consulting with staff, you should bring all relevant program/unit information. Referrals may also be made to other service providers in areas such as health, housing or counseling. Students should always check with a Field of Study Managers when planning their courses and consult the appropriate website for the most up-to-date faculty and course information. Professionally trained counselors are available to discuss any academic and personal issues you may have. The staff are qualified psychologists with advanced counselling training. Financial servicesIf you have difficulties managing your finances, community services specialists can assist you with financial advice, student loans and basic taxation information. Health and Medical Services:Monash Health ServiceAs a Monash College student you have access to the Monash health services available on-campus. Appointments are not required but it is advisable to bring your Monash College student ID. There is no charge to you to see the Doctor or Nurse. For International students the consultation with the Doctor is billed direct to your overseas health cover provider as long as you have a current OSHC card.
Student Dental and Optometry serviceStudents with a Monash College ID can consult a dentist or optometrist for free and discounts are given for treatment. The service provides legal advice and assistance to students and staff, handles cases, and arranges representation in courts and tribunals. Appointments are necessary and can be made either in person or by telephone. The legal service is located at 60 Beddoe Ave, Clayton 3800. Telephone: 9905 4336. The service is free to students and members of the community who cannot afford to pay for legal assistance. Unless legal aid is granted, legal representation by a barrister must be paid for. Students are encouraged to use the service. The legal service encourages informed self-help and is involved in general community legal education.
