INTRODUCTORY LAW (MCD1380)

Purpose

The aim of this unit is to provide a basic knowledge of legal systems in the Asian region, an understanding of how statutory law is made, an introduction to some key private laws, and an overview of business entities.

Learning outcomes

At the completion of this unit students will be able to:

1. Describe and explain two legal systems within the Asian region.
2. Understand and explain how statutory law is made.
3. Examine and compare property laws.
4. Understand private legal rights including contract law, negligence and consumer law.
5. Compare and explain different business entities.

Assignments: 40%

Examination: 60%
