As part of the Monash University Open Day celebrations for 2009, the Monash Academy Orchestra directed by Jeffrey Crellin performs a special afternoon concert in Robert Blackwood Hall.  We are delighted to welcome acclaimed Australian pianist Michael Kieran Harvey to perform George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. Michael is one of Australia ’s most celebrated performers, with a prodigious reputation not only as a champion of new music, but also as one of the most exciting pianists of his generation.

 

The major orchestral work on the program is Rimsky-Korsokov’s masterpiece of orchestral sound painting, Scheherazade.
