Monash University Musical Company (MUMCo) presents
|
![]() |
Urinetown is a tale of greed, corruption, love and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Anyone who refuses to pay for the “privilege to pee” is immediately hauled off to the mysterious 'Urinetown'. Amongst the people, a hero decides he's had enough, and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom! Could this be a sign of things to come in Melbourne 's parched streets? We certainly hope not.
MUMCo's production of Urinetown is being directed by James Cutler, choreographed by Scott Hili and musically directed by Tony Toppi. The production will showcase the talents of over 45 cast and crew members, many of which are current Monash University students. MUMCo is a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing quality, student produced musical theatre to the Monash University and surrounding communities.
