25th Anniversary Concert

The Monash University Philharmonic Society is 25 years old! We would love you to attend our spectacular gala concert at Robert Blackwood Hall, on 6 October.  Join both past and present members, family and friends in celebrating this fantastic achievement.

'The Phil' is a completely student-run musical organisation, comprising three main groups, the Monash Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO), the Monash Symphonic Winds (MSW) and the Monash Jazz Orchestra (MoJO).

From humble beginnings as a single string quartet in 1982, The Phil now has over 150 members and provides a valuable opportunity for students, staff and members of the wider community to continue to play their instruments while undertaking challenging repertoire in a fun and relaxed setting.

The biggest concert in The Phil's 25-year history will be a fitting celebration of the society's growth and achievements over the past quarter of a century.  It will include performances of all three groups, with repertoire ranging from Schubert's Third Symphony and Holst's First Suit, to ' Harlem ' by Duke Ellington.  Guest speakers, including Vice Chancellor of Monash University, Professor Richard Larkins, will pay tribute to The Phil's rich history throughout the night.  

Feel free to also join us afterwards in the Robert Blackwood Hall foyer for a post concert celebration, with supper provided.

Ticket prices: Adult $25, Pensioner, Seniors and Students $15, Monash CommUNIty card holders $12, Child (under 12) $10
