His Holiness the Dalai Lama will speak at Monash University during his upcoming Australian visit in June.
The Castan Centre for Human Rights Law is excited to be co-hosting the Dalai Lama in conjunction with the Australia Tibet Council and is expecting the event to be a sell out.
It will feature a keynote address by His Holiness the Dalai Lama on " The Middle Way: a peaceful approach to resolving conflict" followed by a discussion between eminent stakeholders. The Dalai Lama will outline his general approach to resolving conflict, whether at the local or global level, before discussing his specific proposals to achieve a genuine autonomy for Tibet in the interests of both the Chinese and Tibetan people.
Castan Centre Director Professor Sarah Joseph said: "It's a great honour for us to host the Dalai Lama on his first visit to Monash. The Centre is proud to be able to continue the collaborative relationship which Ron Castan, after whom the centre is named, had with his Holiness."
"This event will be a unique opportunity to hear the Dalai Lama explain his approach to conflict resolution in general and specifically with reference to the Tibetan situation."
Ticket purchases are limited to two per person. A certain number of seats have been set aside for Victorian tertiary students. Student ID numbers will be needed for every student seat purchased. No exchange or refunds permitted.
