About Glisten

Glisten was formed to present neglected chamber vocal repertoire at a world-class level. Invited to perform Australian premiere for the Melbourne International Festival for the Arts in 2004 at BMW Edge, Federation Square, Glisten consequently presented a concert series at the Edge, and a Sunday Live national broadcast for ABC Classic FM and various recital programs as part of Monash University concert series. The excellence of the group was acknowledged firstly in Glisten being invited to perform in the festival, and accordingly in reviews, publicity and audience response.

The five core members of Glisten are soloists of the highest calibre. Repertoire is selected based on the premise of presenting significant, note-worthy vocal chamber material, with background information in verbal or written form to heighten audience enjoyment, with an aim to include premieres and works by living composers. Incorporating the Glisten Art Song Recital project, it is hoped that an annual concert series by Glisten will become a staple of the Melbourne arts calendar, complemented by recordings and touring activities.

The 'unashamedly indulgent program' of opera treasures and Christmas carols is in direct response requests for an informal, popular program to wind up 2007. We're more than happy to oblige!
