Calvin Bowman (Organ)

Described variously as "a uniquely talented musician" (Philip Glass), "one of the finest musical minds this country has produced" (Graham Abbott), Dr Calvin Bowman is currently Artistic Director at St. Michael's Uniting Church Collins Street, Melbourne, Organist at Ormond College, and Associate Artistic Director of Australia Pro Arte.

In 1995 Dr Calvin Bowman presented the complete Bach organ works to critical acclaim, causing one commentator to remark that " ... at each step along the path of this massive enterprise (Bowman) is producing masterly interpretations." Dr Bowman’s artsongs have been lauded by Barbara Bonney as "very beautiful and well written." He is a laureate of the Ned Rorem Award for Song Composition, the Diana Barnhart American Song Competition, the English Poetry and Song Society Artsong Award, and has been commissioned widely.
