Australia's premiere acrobat comedy troupe, the Leaping Loonies have performed in the UK, Europe, Asia and throughout Australia. In May 2005 the Loonies won the "People's Choice Award" at the Valladolid Street Theatre Festival (Spain) playing to 5,000 people daily. In addition, The Loonies have been awarded a Mo Award for "Best Speciality Act" and the Frater Award twice for "Excellence in Schools Performances".
A cross between Evil Knievel and Krusty the Clown, the Leaping Loonies draw on the great international traditions of popular physical performance, vaudeville and the silent movie era.
Topping their high level of physical accomplishment these acrobats make the rehearsed look accidental and the difficult seem easy. The Crate Show incorporates the varied disciplines of acrobatics and vaudeville (balancing, tumbling, vault, teeter board, clowning, juggling and knockabout slapstick) with their uniquely Australian sense of larrikinism while paying homage to a bygone era of theatre performers.
