The Patient Safety Education Simulation Centre (SIMCENTRE) is a purpose-built education and research facility designed to expose healthcare professionals to the rigours of the clinical environment.

Located within Monash Medical Centre, the SIMCENTRE was one of the first of its kind in the southern hemisphere, and has an international reputation for the quality of its innovative simulation-based training for individuals and teams.

It provides scenario-based learning in highly realistic clinical environments to help professionals understand how they perform and communicate in clinical teams. Simulated environments include the operating theatre, emergency department, ward and delivery suite. 

The SIMCENTRE provides a range of courses designed for:

  • undergraduate medical students
  • junior and senior medical and nursing staff
  • emergency department nursing and medical staff
  • anaesthetic nursing and medical staff
  • midwives and obstetric medical staff
  • international medical graduates
  • paramedics
  • rural GP anaesthetists and anaesthetic/recovery staff.
