About us

Australia is the birthplace of injury research at Monash. We have had a presence on the University's Clayton campus since the Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC) was established in 1987. Since then we have grown to become Australia's largest and most respected injury prevention research organisation.

Our Malaysian office was established in 2010 at the University's Sunway campus in Kuala Lumpur.  In a relatively short time we have made strong advancements in developing our office as a key safety research facility in the Asian region, and we are helping improve the prevention of serious injury throughout the region.

Since establishing a presence in 2008 at Monash University's learning centre in Prato, Italy, we have worked with researchers around Europe to make improvements in road safety. We have agreements in place with major research centres in Europe, including groups based in the UK, Sweden, Italy, France and The Netherlands.

The Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion (IPSP) Research Node, at Monash South Africa, is forging local relationships with the South African Medical Research Council, the Road Traffic Accident Commission, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the University of South Africa and the University of Botswana Trauma Working Group.
