We are committed to being a world leader in research training.

We established the Monash University Institute of Graduate Research (MIGR) with the sole purpose of providing professional, world-class support for our research students – from admission to examination – and the active researchers who guide them.

From developing the policies that guide our research ethics, to making sure someone is always available to answer your questions, we are committed to helping you achieve impact with your research.

Supervisor accreditation

MIGR is responsible for the training and accreditation of all our supervisors. We have one of the largest, most diverse groups of supervisors in Australia, so this is no mean feat.

To earn MIGR accreditation, our supervisors must be active researchers with experience guiding research students through to completion.

Scholarships

Once you've made the decision to join our research community, MIGR can help you get the financial support you need to make the most of your time with us.

We administer a range of scholarships, designed to let you concentrate on your research and provide help with living expenses, travel costs and accommodation needs.

Professional development

Today's research students are an ambitious lot.

And they have to be – today's employers and industry leaders expect big things from graduates from the moment they’re employed.

That's why we’re building dedicated professional and research skills development right into our Monash PhD program. MIGR oversees these programs to make sure the advice you get matches the demands of industry and academia.

Policy and procedure

MIGR is responsible for establishing and maintaining the strict guidelines that ensure our high research standards.

The policies and procedures that govern our research ethics and transparency, and the path you will travel from application to graduation, are detailed in the Handbook for Doctoral Degrees and the Handbook for Research Master's Degrees.
