Studying for a Doctor of Philosophy, or PhD, involves independently investigating a research problem that you have formulated. Your research is expected to make a significant contribution to your discipline.

The degree usually takes three to four years of full-time study, or the equivalent part-time study. During your enrolment, your research will be academically supported by at least two supervisors.

Upon completion of your PhD, you are required to submit a thesis of no more than 100,000 words for assessment. In certain disciplines, creative work or performance can form part of your thesis.
