Where a mandatory coursework component has been undertaken as an integral part of the degree this component must be completed successfully before the thesis is dispatched to the examiners for assessment. The nature and duration of such coursework will be notified to the examiners when they are sent the thesis.
Please note that in these cases the overall grade includes a proportion of the marks for the thesis and the units.
Some research master’s degrees have a practice or creative component. These will be assessed by the examiners as a part of the examination process, as outlined in Sections 7.5.2.1 to 7.5.2.3.
In normal practice, there is no provision for oral examinations. Normally, the option is available to an Examination Review Board (see Section 7.14) to facilitate an outcome for a delayed or contentious outcome.
