1.4 Doctor of Medicine (MD)

The Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences offers two MD degrees, one with and one without supervision.

1.4.1 MD with supervision

An MD candidate carries out a program of research under the direct supervision of academic staff and is required to submit a thesis which would normally not exceed 100,000 words. The MD project should be designed to take no more than three years of full-time candidature. The MD with supervision is governed by regulations similar to those for a PhD and may be undertaken via on-campus or external mode.

1.4.2 MD without supervision

Candidates for the MD without supervision submit a thesis based upon published or unpublished papers.
