Scholarship eligibility

The scholarships listed below have many common eligibility requirements, including the need to have first-class honours or the equivalent from your existing qualifications. These requirements are detailed on the common eligibility criteria page.

Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) – pays a living allowance for domestic students* and students awarded an International Postgraduate Research Scholarship.

Monash Graduate Scholarship (MGS) – pays a living allowance for domestic* and international students.

International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) – covers the tuition fees of international students.

Monash International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (MIPRS) – also covers international students’ tuition fees.

Vera Moore International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (VMIPRS) – another tuition-fee award for international students.

Maxwell King PhD Scholarship (MKS) – pays a living allowance for domestic* and international students.

Monash Silver Jubilee Postgraduate Research Scholarship (MSJS) – awarded through different faculties each year, it provides a living allowance to domestic* and international students.

Sir James McNeill Foundation Postgraduate Research Scholarship (SJMcN) – pays a living allowance to domestic* or international students undertaking a doctorate in music, engineering, science or medicine.

Monash Indigenous Research Award (MIRA) – helps up to two Indigenous students a year undertake full-time research.

Monash Equity Scholarship (MES) – helps students with a disability or disrupted academic career return to study.

Victoria India Doctoral Scholarship (VIDS) – covers the tuition costs of up to two students from India a year.

Victoria International Research Scholarship (VIRS) Program – a Victorian Government scholarship for international students.

*Domestic student refers to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens and Australian permanent residents.
