Accepting your candidature offer – international students

The steps to accepting your offer are:

  1. Complete the acceptance paperwork, included with your offer. This is your formal acceptance of our offer to study at Monash. All students must complete and sign this paperwork to be enrolled.
  2. Demonstrate that you meet any of the offer conditions, relating to the academic entry or English language requirements, which must be met when you accept your offer.
  3. Pay any required fees and provide us with proof of payment. Sponsored students in receipt of a scholarship must provide us with a letter of financial guarantee/evidence of sponsorship.
Once this is done, we will issue you with an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE), which is required for your visa application.

Overseas Student Healthcare Cover (OSHC) membership

Government policy requires all international candidates, enrolled in a research degree, to have OSHC for the length of their visa.

You must provide evidence of your OSHC membership to obtain a visa.
If you already have health insurance, you should provide us with the details and evidence of the cover.

If you do not pay for health insurance through Monash and our preferred provider, you must provide evidence of other healthcare membership to obtain a visa.

Course fees

International research candidates, who do not have a scholarship which covers their fees, are required to pay a deposit, equivalent to course fees for one semester upon acceptance of an offer.

If you are being sponsored, or receiving a scholarship or financial aid from your home country or any other source, please specify the provider and provide us with a financial guarantee letter from them. We will contact you if further information is required.

Payment options

Your four payment options for OHSC and course fee deposits are:

Option one – online payment (Student Pay)

Western Union Solutions StudentPay allows you to pay fees from outside Australia (for international transactions only).

The system provides payment transfer details that you can use with your online banking account, or talk to your local bank branch about processing the payment. Read more about Western Union Solutions StudentPay.

Option two – bank draft

Organise a bank draft made payable to ‘Monash University’ and mail or deliver it with your acceptance form to:

Research Degrees Admissions Unit
Monash University Institute of Graduate Research
Building 3D, Clayton Campus
Wellington Road,
Monash University, Victoria 3800,
Australia

Option three – credit card

Complete your credit card details on your Acceptance Form. As the payment is for a large amount, you may also need to advise your bank of the amount that will be debited on your card in the near future

Option four – telegraphic transfer

Transfer the required payment to the following account:

Account name: Monash University Fees Account
Bank name: Westpac Banking Corporation
Branch address:
Building 10, Monash University
Clayton Victoria 3800 Australia
BSB: 033 289
Account no: 63-0732
SWIFT code: WPACAU2S

So that we know you have paid, and to avoid your offer lapsing, the bank must include your name and student ID number as a reference.

Family fee discount

If you and one or more siblings are enrolled in a Monash full-fee course at the same time, you may be entitled to a 10 per cent discount on your annual tuition fees. This is only available on request after you enrol.
You must pay the full deposit amount to accept your offer. Read more about the family fee discount

Returning your acceptance paperwork

You can return your acceptance form, any additional or supplementary forms required and evidence of payment to us by:

Research Degrees Admissions Unit
Monash Research Graduate School
Building 3D, Clayton Campus
Wellington Road, Monash University
Victoria 3800, Australia

Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE)

We will issue you with an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE) once you have:

  • met any conditions that need to be satisfied upon acceptance of your offer
  • returned your acceptance form
  • paid your fees and visa-length overseas health cover.

Once this is done, we will email your eCOE to you. A printed eCOE will also be sent to your nominated address.

The eCOE is required for your student visa application.
