Monash University Academy of Performing Arts has a range of flexible venues well equipped to cater for any requirement. Adaptable to performances, presentations, graduations, lectures or conferences, our venues are available for hire at reasonable rates and supported by expert Technical, Marketing, Box Office and Front of House services. Robert Blackwood Hall and the Alexander Theatre are located at Monash’s Clayton Campus while the George Jenkins Theatre sits on our Peninsula campus in Frankston.
With remarkable vision and insight, the founders of Monash University designed their Graduation Hall to double as a magnificent and world-class concert venue. Within a 1598 seat auditorium with nationally renowned acoustics, the Robert Blackwood Hall’s concert platform is large enough to accommodate a full Symphony Orchestra and has a stepped floor perfect for Choral performances. Its backdrop is the stunning Louis Matheson Pipe Organ – acclaimed as one of the finest instruments of its kind in the world.

The 508 seat Alexander Theatre is a remarkably flexible venue which makes it ideal for virtually any form of live performance. It is a beautifully intimate Proscenium Arch theatre while remaining large enough to be commercially viable. The stage features a full fly tower, a fore-stage lift providing a full size orchestra pit and a fully adjustable proscenium.

The George Jenkins Theatre, the Peninsula’s Playhouse, is an intimate 426 seat venue ideal for plays, dance, concerts and conferences. Comprising a thrust stage with raked seating on three sides, this is one of those rare venues which really doesn’t have a bad seat. Versatile stage access and five dressing rooms allow for movement of large casts while the seating configuration makes the venue equally ideal for conferences, lectures or other focused presentations.
