Points to remember

Here are some important points to keep in mind when preparing a laboratory report.

  • The purpose of any lab report is to report the rationale, procedure and results of an experiment in sufficient detail to allow someone else to replicate it.
  • As part of your university studies, the laboratory report is also a means of assessing your experimentation skills and your understanding of the applications of theory.
  • The presentation of the report is very important.
  • Results can be presented in figures or tables so that it is easy for you to compare the calculated and the measured values.
