Observing as researchObservation is an important research tool for artists and designers.
Industrial design
This may involve you visiting galleries and exhibitions, speaking to experts in the field or simply keeping notes about your own studio practice. Whatever you are doing, take the time to be aware of the world around you. Perhaps you could start keeping a visual journal in which you make notes and sketches, not simply recording what is out there, but also your responses to your environment. Engage with people, their ideas and the ways they express these ideas.
