Strategies for non-native speakers of English

Check for:

• Consistency of subject and verb agreement e.g. the writer agrees or the writers agree
• Correct tense - be consistent.
• Spelling and punctuation.
• Word order.
• Correct vocabulary terms.
• Correct use of articles: a / the
• Pronouns used carefully - do not simply repeat the noun.
• Use of passive voice where appropriate.
• What assumptions are present in the question?
• What stance/point of view have you adopted?
