Branching notesIn branching notes, the lecture title is written in the centre of the page, with the different topics of the lecture branching out. The advantages of this method are that it forces you to focus on the key issues; it also acts as a summary which is handy for revision. Depending on the subject, you may be able to exercise your creativity in developing an original notetaking system. Bearing in mind the fact that visual material has greater impact than verbal - and is easier to remember - you can try sketches and diagrams as an alternative to a written record.
