Past tensesThere are many different ways of indicating that an event took place in the past. In your writing for engineering, you can use the simple past, present perfect, present perfect progressive, or the past perfect progressive. All of these different past tenses have slightly different meanings in terms of the chronology - or the order - in which things happened.
