Monash University values student diversity and supports inclusive practices. It also values independent learning, so you need to be assertive and follow up any issues and queries you may have! You have rights and responsibilities!

If you have particular requirements, it is important that you prepare and make arrangements with the Disability Liason Unit as early as possible before the semester starts.

If you require specific university course or subject accommodations, contact the Disability Liaison Unit (DLU). They can:

  • help negotiate reasonable adjustments such as alternative assessments.
  • help you deal with accessibility issues such as getting lecture notes in alternative formats
  • organise an LD assessment if you have a learning disability
  • assist you with adaptive technology and software.

Find out about your rights, responsibilities, and equity and diversity programs.

  • Consider disclosure issues if you have a disability or long-term medical condition.

Some tips to help you take charge of your university experience.

  • The Counselling service offers programs on assertiveness and self-esteem.
  • Be proactive and explore your learning strengths to enhance your learning techniques!
  • Collect your copy of your free Monash Student Diary. It's both useful and informative.
  • Check out the Faculty contacts Opens in a new window. It is useful to know who to contact at the university and where you might go to seek further guidance. There's a space in your Student diary to make a contact list of key people so you can get in touch with them when you need them.
  • Set up your computer account Opens in a new window, and find out about university email.
  • Find out how to make changes to personal information Opens in a new window, such as your address or residency status, then get in touch with Student Service Centres Opens in a new window.
  • Find out about the library Opens in a new window facilities and services and orientation and semester programs available.
  • Think about getting involved in student leadership programs!

University Community Services are there to support you too. Find out where they are located on your campus.

In the my.monash portal you can:

  • check your Monash email
  • check your subject information and notices in My Units
  • renew library loans
  • find out what's happening in My Community.

Get yourself a Monash authcate login and password, then you can log into the portal and take the ten-minute my.monashtour to find out more.

You can also access the online teaching and communication system Monash University Studies Online (MUSO) via the portal.

  • Log into MUSO to find out where your subjects are located physically and electronically!
  • Check the MUSO support site for help getting started.
