Individual appointments
At CALT we are continually looking for
effective ways to help as many students
as we can, but it is simply not possible
for us to provide individual appointments
for every student. However, students who
do not meet the criteria listed below
are welcome to attend the classes
and workshops run by CALT Learning
Support staff.
You may be given individual
appointments to work intensively on your
approaches to study or your English language
skills if you have:
- been referred by way of an APC hearing
within your faculty, or
- received an Early Warning letter from
your faculty, or
- failed an assignment or unit and,
as a result, have brought a referral
form signed by your lecturer
or tutor, or other support service personnel,
or
- been referred by your lecturer, tutor
or other support service personnel (e.g.,
DLU, Community Services, etc) and have
brought a referral
form signed by your lecturer,
tutor or other support service personnel,
or
- attended a 15-minute drop-in
session, or seen a member of the CALT
Learning Support staff, and been identified
as needing intensive support.
In an individual appointment:
- We read your work in order to assist
you to analyse your approach.
- We help you to develop strategies
or learn new skills in academic writing.
- We do not "edit" or "proof-read"
your assignment. If you require a proof-reading
service, ask us about our list of contacts
who will do proofreading on a fee-for-service
basis.
All appointments need to be made at
least one week in advance.
Go to CALT
Learning Support contacts by campus
to find out who to get in touch with.
