Behaviours to notice

This diagram shows some of the observable behaviours which can indicate a mental health condition.

Observable behaviours

Some of the behaviours are:

  • weight loss
  • bizarre or challenging patterns of behaviour
  • mood changes
  • continuing difficulties with academic work
  • changes in the way the person looks or behaves
  • withdrawal from activities
  • reliance on alcohol or illicit drugs
  • irritability.
These behaviours will impact on a student's ability to study, and therefore the student will need support.
