General information

Monash has a commitment to inclusive teaching, recognising the learning needs of its diverse community and aiming to create an inclusive learning environment.

The development of this website was undertaken by the project team and staff of the Centre for Learning and Teaching Support (CeLTS), then Centre for the Advancement of Learning and Teaching (CALT), Monash University, under the direction of Associate Professor Rosemary Clerehan. The overall project of which this site is part, was awarded Monash Strategic Innovations funding 2005-2006.

Material on this site was written by Wendy Paulusz and Fiona McCook with assistance from Viola Rosario and Associate Professor Rosemary Clerehan.

The site offers insights into the experiences of student with "hidden disabilities" – that is, students with a learning disability (an LD) and students with mental health issues. Learning Disabilities and mental health issues are essentially very different, but the impact on students' study can be similar. The site offers inclusive teaching strategies to help teaching staff to address some of these issues so they can make a difference to the experience of students studying at Monash.

Acknowledgements

We express our gratitude to the many students and staff of the University who gave generously of their time and, in particular, members of the Steering Group.
