Update your IT skills
Computers are a vital part of daily life at university – especially if you are studying at a distance. There is a lot of technology the university makes available to support your learning – from enrolling in classes using WES (Web Enrolment System) to building your timetable using MUTTS (Monash University Timetable System) to submitting assignments in MUSO.
As an off-campus student today you keep in touch with tutors and fellow students via MUSO 
(Monash University Studies Online). Online communication makes it easier to study off-campus and manage other life commitments. You'll get important messages via your student email account. So it's essential that you set up your Monash computer account as soon as you are enrolled.
Basics
The Monash current students page has links to:
- using the internet and checking your internet usage
- computer labs
- wireless networking and
- computer training .
Training
The current students page on the Monash website also has information on IT including a link to log into the my.monash portal to book for computer training.
You do need to already have a Monash computer account to get into the my.monashportal.
Your Monash account
The page on the Monash computer accounts and passwords system has links for you to:
- register for a new account
- record your personal identification word
- change your password
- create a new password based on your student ID number if you've forgotten the password you set
- check your Monash computer account details
- find out how you get specific passwords you might need for certain subjects
ITS information
The IT information for students page includes information on the IT support provided by ITS (Information Technology Services), including links to key steps to get you started:
- accessing your email
- computer access
- the my.monash portal
- IT helpdesks
as well as the legal information about your computer use.
